This might be a yell into the great abyss, but I will make the offer regardless.

At this point I have no official do’s and dont’s of policy. Although, I do have proclivities and turn-offs.
Sincerely, I like community. My general philosophy is one of openness; As open to strangers, as prisons are closed to outsiders.

I just came accross your site, and I have to say it’s stunning! I’ve been developing a site and working with Federal Prisoners for the past 2 years. I currently have a writer who is sitting in SHU (the hole) for exposing secrets about the prisons wrongdoings. There is a lawyer working on it. I just want to say I think your site is excellent, it’s great to SEE inside. I’d like to link you, and would sure love you to link us as well.
Kudos to you and the work you do here, very very impressive!

Please look at the document ‘Unlocking America’. It’s very good. http://www.jfa-associates.com/
I am working on a photographic book that is part clemency application for my husband. I have to be really creative as the rules don’t allow for anything other than the standard, corny inmate shots with the painted backgrounds when I visit. He sends me drawings and poems to describe situations and things he has made that I can scan and include … anyway I’m working on it.

Monique. Thanks for your comment at Prison Photography. Your comment about “the standard, corny inmate shots with the painted backgrounds” made me chuckle. I actually wrote about this disperse and very American collection of portraits some months ago … an exhibition without walls if you like.
